Accessories and resin for Unger HydroPower systems

In this category, you will find consumables, measuring instruments and accessories for maintaining Unger HydroPower systems used to produce pure water.

Before buying resin or a spare part, check the exact filter model. Current HydroPower Ultra systems and filters from earlier HydroPower DI generations do not necessarily use the same resin format.

Resin Packs for HydroPower Ultra

The HydroPower Ultra S, L and LC filters use pre-dosed Ultra resin packs. Each pack contains 6 litres of ion-exchange resin and features FloWater 2.0 technology to distribute water through the inside of the filter.

HydroPower Ultra S: uses one 6-litre Ultra resin pack.
HydroPower Ultra L: uses three 6-litre packs, with a total capacity of 18 litres.
HydroPower Ultra LC: uses three 6-litre packs, with a total capacity of 18 litres.

The packs are designed to be replaced without handling loose resin directly. The format corresponding to each system must be used.

Ultra Pack for HydroPower S

The 6-litre Ultra resin pack provides a complete filter load for the HydroPower Ultra S.

It can be purchased as a single unit when only the load for an S system needs replacing or an additional spare is required.

Ultra Pack for HydroPower L and LC

The replacement for HydroPower Ultra L and LC consists of three 6-litre packs, providing the 18 litres required for these filters.

It should not be confused with a single bag or with the QuickChange bags intended for other HydroPower DI models.

QuickChange Resin Bags

The 6-litre QuickChange bags contain a pre-dosed quantity of mixed-bed resin and are intended for compatible HydroPower DI filters from earlier generations.

They are available in different formats, such as individual bags or sets of four bags. Before buying, confirm that the reference of your vessel supports the QuickChange system.

These bags must not be presented as direct replacements for HydroPower Ultra S, L or LC, which use their own Ultra packs.

Virgin Mixed-Bed Resin

The mixed-bed resin combines cation and anion resins to demineralise water. It is supplied loose for compatible vessels, cartridges and refillable filters.

It must not be used to open or refill sealed Ultra packs or QuickChange bags. Check the vessel type, capacity and manufacturer's instructions before refilling.

How long does the resin last?

The service life cannot be expressed as a fixed number of hours or litres for all users. It mainly depends on:

The dissolved solids and hardness of the incoming water.
The bicarbonate and other mineral content.
The quantity of water produced.
The flow rate used.
The type and capacity of the filter.

With harder incoming water, the resin becomes exhausted sooner. For this reason, the output water must be monitored using a TDS meter.

TDS Meters for Pure Water

A TDS meter measures the approximate concentration of dissolved solids in water and expresses the result in parts per million, ppm.

It can be used to check both the incoming water and the quality of water produced by DI, Nano or reverse osmosis systems.

Unger recommends replacing the resin when the output water reading exceeds 10 ppm. Check the value during use and do not wait until visible marks appear on the glass.

Integrated and Portable Meters

HydroPower Ultra filters include a digital TDS meter for monitoring the output water. A portable meter can be useful for comparing incoming and output water, checking other systems or confirming a reading.

Rinse the sensor with clean water after use and follow the model's instructions to maintain measurement accuracy.

Detergent Dispenser

The detergent dispenser allows cleaning product to be added to the circuit when a particular job requires an initial soaping stage.

When detergent is added, the process is no longer carried out exclusively with pure water. Afterwards, it may be necessary to rinse the surface thoroughly with pure water to remove product residue before drying.

How to Identify the Correct Replacement

Locate the filter model and reference.
Check whether it belongs to the HydroPower Ultra range or an earlier HydroPower DI generation.
Check the vessel's total resin capacity.
Do not mix Ultra packs, QuickChange bags and loose resin without confirming compatibility.
Consult the equipment instructions before opening the vessel.

Maintaining HydroPower Filters

Changing the resin is an important part of maintaining DI filters, but the vessel, seals, valves, closures and connections should also be checked regularly.

Before Opening the Filter

Turn off the water supply.
Release all pressure from the vessel.
Disconnect the hoses where appropriate.
Follow the procedure specified for the exact model.

Do not open a filter while it is pressurised. Check that the pressure relief valve and closure are working correctly before using it again.

After Replacing the Resin

Check that the seals are clean and correctly positioned.
Close the vessel correctly.
Connect the water supply and check for leaks.
Allow the water to flow according to the equipment instructions.
Check the result using the TDS meter.
