Blades for glass and Unger window scrapers

The blade is the scraper component that acts directly on adhered dirt. To achieve a good result and reduce the risk of damaging the surface, it must be kept clean and straight, and free from rust, nicks or deformation.

In this category you will find blades for glass and Unger replacement blades for window, surface and floor scrapers. Different materials, widths and fixing systems are available, so it is important to select the replacement compatible with each tool.

Metal blades for glass scrapers

Unger uses different types of window-cleaning scraper blade depending on the scraper model.

4 cm blades: used in compatible mini scrapers and safety scrapers. Depending on the model, they may use carbon steel blades.

10 and 15 cm Premium stainless steel blades: made from 440A stainless steel and featuring a double edge. They are used in certain professional glass scrapers, including ErgoTec Ninja and other compatible models.

Other Unger scrapers, such as ProTrim, Trim and certain safety models, use carbon steel blades.

The width and fixing system must match the scraper. A 10 cm blade does not automatically replace a 15 cm blade and cannot be used in every holder.

Blades for surface and floor scrapers

The scraper blades intended for surfaces and floors are specific and different from those used in many glass scrapers.

Depending on the model, different widths and edge configurations are available for removing adhered residue from hard-wearing surfaces.

Before selecting a floor or surface blade, always check the scraper reference and the intended use specified by the manufacturer.

Plastic blades for sensitive surfaces

The Unger plastic blades are intended for work on surfaces where a less aggressive alternative to a metal blade is required.

  • 4 cm: for ErgoTec Safety Scraper and other compatible safety scrapers.
  • 10 cm: for the 10 cm ErgoTec glass scraper.
  • 15 cm: for the 15 cm ErgoTec Ninja scraper.

Unger recommends them for certain sensitive surfaces, such as frames, plastics, painted surfaces and some types of safety glass. Even so, always check that the surface is suitable for scraping and carry out a preliminary test whenever there are any doubts.

When should a blade be replaced?

It should be replaced when it has nicks, rust or deformation, has embedded dirt, or no longer works evenly.

There is no replacement frequency that is valid for every job. Service life depends on the type of dirt, the surface, frequency of use and blade maintenance.

How to use a blade on glass

  • Check that the glass is suitable for scraper use.
  • Work with the surface clean, wet and properly lubricated.
  • Do not use damaged, rusty or contaminated blades.
  • Avoid sideways movements while the blade is in contact with the surface.
  • Remove sand, dust and other abrasive particles beforehand.
  • Carry out a preliminary test when you do not know the type of glass or treatment.
