Unger ROTDS TDS meter — know exactly when to change the resin
The ROTDS TDS meter is the water quality measuring instrument for pure water cleaning systems. It measures the concentration of dissolved solids in water in ppm (parts per million) — the indicator that determines whether the water produced is pure enough to clean windows without leaving marks.
What exactly is it used for?
Checking the condition of the resin — when the TDS meter reads 0 ppm, the resin is in perfect condition. When it starts to rise above 10 ppm, this indicates that the resin is becoming exhausted and that replacement should be planned. Above 15–20 ppm, the water starts to leave visible marks as it dries.
Measuring mains water hardness — before connecting the equipment at a new location, measuring the TDS of the mains water makes it possible to estimate how long the resin will last in that area. High-TDS water = the resin becomes exhausted more quickly.
Checking RO system performance — in reverse osmosis systems, the TDS meter makes it possible to check that the membrane is working correctly and producing low-conductivity water.
When is it particularly useful?
It is essential for HydroPower equipment without an integrated TDS meter — older models or some entry-level models without a digital display. For Ultra S, L and LC equipment that already has an integrated TDS meter, the ROTDS serves as an additional check or as a replacement meter.
