HydroPower RO Unger activated carbon filter ROCAR — essential protection for the membranes
The ROCAR filter is the replacement activated carbon filter for Unger HydroPower RO M (RO35C) and RO40C systems. Its function is to remove chlorine from mains water before it reaches the reverse osmosis membranes, protecting them from the deterioration caused by chlorine in the membrane material.
Why is this filter essential?
Reverse osmosis membranes are the most expensive component of the RO system — replacing them represents a considerable investment. Chlorine in mains water is the main agent that deteriorates and perforates the membranes, drastically reducing their service life if it comes into direct contact with them.
The activated carbon filter intercepts the chlorine before it reaches the membrane. A spent filter that is not replaced in time allows chlorine to pass through to the membranes, causing irreversible damage whose repair cost is far higher than that of the filter.
Replacement frequency
The activated carbon filter should be replaced regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions and the system's workload. Do not wait until the filter looks visibly deteriorated — the carbon's absorption capacity is exhausted before this becomes visible.
