Replacement carbon and sediment pre-filter for the Unger HydroPower RO S (RO20C). Removes chlorine and particles from mains water before they reach the reverse osmosis membrane. Recommended replacement every 3–4 months. Failure to replace it can cause chlorine-related punctures in the membrane — the most costly fault in the RO system. HydroPower RO S Unger ROCA2 carbon pre-filter — the guardian of the reverse osmosis membrane
The ROCA2 pre-filter is the combined carbon and sediment filter used in the first filtration stage of the HydroPower RO S (RO20C). Its function is to remove chlorine and particles from mains water before they reach the reverse osmosis membrane, protecting it from premature deterioration.
Why is this filter so important?
The reverse osmosis membrane is the most expensive component of the RO S system. Chlorine in mains water is the main enemy of osmosis membranes — it degrades the membrane material and eventually punctures it, drastically reducing its performance and service life.
The carbon pre-filter intercepts the chlorine before it reaches the membrane. If the filter is exhausted and is not replaced in time, chlorine reaches the membrane directly and can damage it irreversibly — a fault whose repair cost is far higher than that of the pre-filter.
Replacement frequency — every 3–4 months
The manufacturer recommends replacing the ROCA2 pre-filter every 3 or 4 months with regular use, regardless of the filter’s visual appearance. The carbon’s absorption capacity is exhausted before the filter looks dirty — do not wait for the filter to change colour before replacing it.
